Hardwire V1 to sunroof/lights?

Has anyone removed the headliner to find which wires to tap into for a Valentine 1 install? Which wire did you tap? Ground?

I would not reccomend reoving the headliner for just a V1 install. Spend an extra 2 minutes and route down pillar to fusebox or radio harness. BTW, the requests should be posted in the post above. Moderators please move in order to keep this section clean.

But why bother routing the wire down the a pillar when a switched wire is in the roof? And why move this thread?

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=22102 is the thread for requests on how tos. The reason I would avoid the headliner is due to headliners never going in right afterwards. I will pop the switch housing off and search for power fi I can.

News Flash!

There is no usable power in the Sunroof/Light Panel. The sunroof is using a 4 wire harness with 3 of the 4 wires emitting 3volts with the ignition on. The other is a ground. The system appears to be a reversing polarity type similar to that in power window switches. There is probably no doubt, a switched power near the motor. That would require removing the entire headliner. The light assembly does have a constant power for those that don't need their detector switched. I would recommend looking elsewhere for power, like underneath the dash.

Thanks, decibel.

First time I haven't found power up top. I appreciate your advice.

there was a thread about this in the general section, it didnt mention any tapable wires up in the roof liner

i can see a bunch of differnt wires under the dash on the left side (driver seat) but i havent tested any. i think it would be best to tap something down below, then run a phone cord up through the pilar to the middle of the windshield.

ill be chcekin back for step by steps!

Try a scotch lock connector on the hot wire for the sunroof. It is 12 volt...

hmm, bump for whoever

there is a lot of wires under the dash, left side. i am not really experience with this type of stuff, but i did hardwire my V1 (by myself) in my previous vehicle...

i can find a nice location for the ground wire screw, and of course the tappable wires are still in question..

anybody?

Bump, looking to do this today. Which wire (color combo) is the switched power on the radio harness? It's simple enough to take out.

Ummm, sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but...why dont you all just use the fusebox for switched or always on power?

I tapped the cigarette lighter, it was easy and clean. Then I just ran the cable under the weatherstripping and up the a pillar trim to my visor where the V1 is hanging. It looks almost like a garage door opener up there.
