How To Relocate The Sports Meter Kit/Replace Factory Stereo
If you are interested, here are some instructions for moving the factory Sports Meter Kit. Steps 6 onwards also apply to replacing the stock stereo with an aftermarket one (more or less). Anyways, at least you can see what's behind the facia so that you are less likely to break something! Hope it's useful...

Tom, the surround comes in a kit that you can get from your dealer. I know I have the part # somewhere but most of my belongings are in Minneapolis and I am in LA. If you can wait a few weeks I will dig it up. If not then I am sure your local dealer can help out.

The replacement piece to convert the lower storage tray into a DIN surround is a standard lancer CD changer adapter. I don't have the P/N handy, but it was a bit under $50.00(?) at the dealer.
If you're asking about the the DIN insert that has the 3 guage cut-outs; that was part of the guage kit. I'd have to dig through my stuff and see if the contents page listed P/Ns for it. It's a 2-piece set-up with a backing plate and cover with double sided tape and the guages holding it all together.
I know similiar DIN guage holders are available from non-mistu sources; I found a couple by googleing.

Great step-by-step, but I would recommend one inclusion. When disconnecting anything electrical, particularly with your head in the vicinity of the dash, it is always a good idea to disconnect the negative terminal. Those airbags sometimes have a mind of their own, and that will definitely leave a mark.
