abt toluene having a diff. effective octane rating (ie 100) when blended with 93,

im not sure what you are asking. The octane after blending would be different, depending on the amount of fuel and the amount of toluene/xylene. if you know the percentage of mixture, you can calculate the octane after mixing.

Some alcohol additives don't create the correct "calculated" octane value when mixed due to other chemical factors. Most do, but a few don't.

Well in an earlier post in this thread some1 said that toluene, when blended with pump gas (ie 93), its octane is 100 i/o 114, meaning that in your calculations, you should use 100 for toluene i/o 114.

Example of 30% tolune with 70% pump 93:
0.3*100 + 0.7*93 to determine the final octane,

instead of:
0.3*114 + 0.7*93

any imput??

I guess that is correct. He is a chemist. It was confirmed by that other guy that said he read the same thing in an article.

That is all I know.

I don't want to often anyone; Before you use it, you may want to check out 'wikipedia'. The Stuff may be dangerous to your Pump and hoses. Read on toward the bottom.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toluene

"Toluene also poses similar problems as alcohol fuels, as it eats through standard rubber fuel lines and has no lubricating properties as standard gasoline does, which can break down fuel pumps and cause upper cylinder bore wear."
