Question Power locks and Cigarette lighter not working.

I was using the cigarette lighter to power an air pump when it suddenly stopped working. Now my power locks and remote entry do not work as well as the cigarette lighter.

I checked the fuse under the steering wheel and it is fine. Where else can I check?

use a continuity tester and test them all. there are two boxes. one under the dash and one under the hood. don't replace them with higher amperage ones. you'll run the risk of causing a fire. it is a blow fuse btw. overload of the circuit with that pump.

how did u 'check' it. did u visually? sometimes thats not good enough. volt meter is best as somethings burnt fuses look 'connected' but are completely dead.

Ok.. So I got the power locks ones replaced. They are under the hood.

But the cigarette lighter fuse under the steering wheel is fine and I even swapped in a new 15A and it still wont work. Is there another fuse somewhere along the circuit or did I screw something else up?

I had the same problem w/ power locks. Check your dome light fuse in the engine compartment. The dome light fuse runs the dome lights (duh) but also the power locks & windows when the ignition is not on. It also runs your clock and trip odometer (!)

It's surrounded by a yellow plastic thing that is *extremely* difficult to get out; you'll have to use 2 flathead screwdrivers to do it - be careful not to bend or break anything around it.

I just bought my EVO VIII a few days ago and I am having a problem where the cigarette lighter, ashtray light, and power door locks do not work. I have checked all the fuses and even replaced them and still nothing. Everything else works. I have taken out the lower connector on the fuse box and when I put it back in it locks the doors?! What color wires should I track down or what should I look for? Thanks!

well the cigarette lighter ended up being a burned up wire that is located on the cigarette lighter socket. there is a little black wire that is in place like a fuse on the socket. didn't see it the first time. now if only i can figure out the door locks!
