Underside of throttle pedal

Underside of throttle pedal
I used my tiny Exilim camera to snap some photos of the underside of the throttle pedal so I'd have a better idea how to remove it. I thought I'd share these for everyone's benefit.
It looks like all I need to do is twist to disengage the plastic "clamp" and then slide the end of the metal bar off the socket in the pedal; haven't tried it yet though. The plastic pedal does wiggle a bit and I'm concerned this would get looser if I removed and reinstalled it. Removing it would make it much easier to install a racing pedal cover on top of the plastic, though.
Has anyone tried attaching a metal throttle pedal directly to the metal bar using some improvised hardware? Looks like it could be done...
Cheers,
- Tam
