got my jdm spec headlights....

Welll I figured that the JDM headlights were gonna be fun to convert over...

Things that currently wont work:

Fog lights
Electronic adjusters (in car switch)
HID.

I am going to find a way to...

Move the 9005 bulb sockets from the jdm main headlight over to the fog light position and then wire in my hid bulbs and ballast where the 9005 was. This will then allow for me to use brighter 9005 bulbs in my fog light position..

Rewire it so i can use the fog lights at any time even if the lights are off all together.

Mount the OEM motors on the back of the JDM housing for the in cockpit adjustment.

Partially*** black out my housings (this will be different from what you have seen on this board)

Mount some city light kits in the housing somwhere for bling factor :P

The plastic on the back of the housings do not match at all, so I will have to fab up some way to mount the HID stuff and the motors for the adjusters....

Should be fun.. I have about 2 weeks before my car is out of the shop, so I should be able to finish.

If ya get a change maybe post a wiring diagram or something for wiring the lights to be able to run fog/low/high all at the same time.

Ya know what, maybe i dont have to mod them after all. What if i pulled the jdms apart and just swap the insides to the usdm lights. they shoud be the same, the bulbs are just different right?

Congrats on those Jdm Headlights and good luck on installing them on. Personally, I don't like those jdm headlight because of those big amber lenses. I was able to do some mod on my headlight by making my parking light clear and only use the turn signal amber. I think it looks better without the amber while they were on.

[The insides will all fit, but it is the back of the housing that is different. There is no spot to mount the headlight adjuster motor.. and the fog light hole is not even cut out...

Seems to me the lights would be set up wrong for use with left hand drive cars. When you switch between high and low beam the pattern would be the wrong way around, since Japan drives on the left side of the road.

There shouldn't be any rewiring to do this. I did this mod on my eclipse. If the Evo's the same (which so far, it seems like a lot of stuff is) it's simply a matter of combining the grounds. What happens in the eclipse is that when you switch the brights on, it pulls the fog light ground. All you simply have to do is tap the two wires together to create a common ground. That way, the fogs ground no matter what. In the eclipse, it was (I believe) a green and red wire on the top of the steering column. When I get time, I'll look into this and post. But in the mean time, someone else might want to give it a shot ...so break out the multimeter and start probing!
