Most people will have another o2 bung welded onto it before the cat if you have one. It is easier that way. But if you do it in stock location the engine light will come on as you took out one sensor monitoring emissions

Ah so it will blow code. Okay cool, I will just get the bung welded. I keep trying to cut costs you know? If I do throw the new one the oem spot can I 'force' the wideband to send viable data to the ECU or can I just code the ECU to pass 02?
(truth be told I'm already convinced on just getting the new bung welded...just curious)

You can but the readings will be off. The wideband is needed to read a wider range of air fuel ratios so readings are different.Easier to just weld one on and be done with it.
