How do I remove the stock airbox ?

I plan on installing my MBC and in order to do so i've heard that you should remove the stock air box. All I can see so far are the 2 bolts, one at the bottom of the airbox and one on the right side, what size are these bolts? Is there anything else that is holding the airbox in that I should know of?

I'd put money on it that they're 10mm (seems every other bolt is). I'm pretty sure there are just 2 bolts, then you have the clamp that holds the IC pipe to the MAF (you're going to want to pull the MAF off with the airbox).

10mm is the correct size for the bolts holding the airbox down and for the clamp at the MAS/intake tube.

May I suggest not removing it and leaving it to a professional to install the MBC if you are having an issue determining the size of the bolt?

I agree, if you can't figure it out then you probably shouldn't be messing with it.

Jesus for ****'s sake man. If you can't figure out how to remove 2 bolts I suggest you close your hood and pretend there are fluffy little bunnies under there pulling you everywhere you go. If your bunnies need care, take them to a specialist.

Check this link:

Step 1-8 describes how to remove the air box. Also if the 10mm bolt doesn't work move to the next bigger/smaller size.

Thanx alfredob1, I'm doing an MBC install tomorrow morning. I was looking under the hood today just messing around, but I could not remove the stock airbox either! They are 10mm bolts, by the way.

yeah they are 10mm bolts, there should only be 2 bolts holding it down. you need to loosen the clamp on the hose connected to it also before you yank it out.

One thing to look out for too is the white plug that goes into the side of the airbox that holds the lead to the MAF sensor. You will need to pull that white plug out of the airbox before you remove it.

If you're close to Pearland then drop me a PM and I can help you this weekend if you want to drive over.

Yeah, I got the right bolt size and everything now. I'm gonna do the whole install on saturday so the engine can cool overnight so I don't burn my hands to hell.
