RS owners, how do you remove the window handle???

im trying to install some front speakers and I cant figure out how the heck the manual window handle comes off so I can remove the door panel.

is it like other cars where there is a omega shaped U clip behind the handle that needs to pop out?

or does the little retangular area pop off. it looks like it might pop open, but I dont want to risk scratching it right now to see if there is a screw hiding underneath.

thanks

Hang on. I will post a how-to for you real soon, possibly tomorrow. I need someone to take pictures while I do it because I would like to show the technique with both hands.

ok I figured it out too just a minute ago.

the RS version does have an omega shaped U clip behind the window handle. its a little tougher to get at compared to other cars since there is a rubber ring that surrounds it.

if the handle is pointed this way: O------>

the U clip will need to be pulled from the left side.

I used a simple hook tool to yank it off pretty easily. Once that is off, the handle will slide right out. The hard part was finding the stupid clip since the rubber ring does a great job at hiding it.

Hope that helps anyone else without power windows on their EVO.

yes. the tool that g6civcx linked you to works best (i have the snapon one at work) but you can also use a rag and shove it between the door and the handle and move it back and forth and eventually the clip will shoot out.
