Hawk HPS Pads Squeak?!

Just Installed a new set of front and rear set of Hawk hps pads. I also used the oem shims and used permatex anti squeak. But I get more squeak? wtf. What to do? I already tossed the oem pads. Ma buddy says they have to break in. Anyone have these on their ride and did something diff?

did you bed them in properly? that's usually a common reason for excessive noise.

If you bed them in properly they don't squeek excessively. They do squeek a bit when they are hot but thats the nature of the pad.

yeah I just threw hps's with the regular permatex anti-sieze on mine and they squeak just a lil bit if I get hard on it at a stop sign.

From what I've read you don't have to turn the rotors, but you need to take something abrasive to them to remove the residual compound from the previous pads.

I know this subject has come up a lot.

They really need to be turned. You cannot look at it by eye to tell if the rotor has a lip or even feel if the rotor has a lip in some cases.

If the rotors aren't perfectly smooth, you will squeal.

Have a brake shop turn them or get some new ones and see if this helps it. It should. Good luck!
