Pix of Fake look of Cat to pass NJ Inspection

GF just bought the car complete with TBE, so in order to get it through NJ inspection with out buying a cat, i've made it look like one from some exhaust heat shileds i've taken off some cars over the years n kept.

bottom sheilds off a 01 vw gti. Welded some Nuts to the bottom of the test pipe in order to screw the shield on and then remove it after the inspection. Mu hahaha!!!

In my state they dont even look under the car. They just plug into the OBD port and say yep passed. I was like man I could have had a test pipe on there an they never would have known.

That's amazing. Even less of a hassle than swapping the cat back in...and it could be a permanent fix even.

That or you could always make friends with somebody that works at an inspection station...

I just got the heat shields off a evo stock cat and had my buddy weld it onto a 3in testpipe. My car is a little low so I can't take good pics of it. Maybe tomorrow or Friday I will have pics of it though.

reason was because she bought the car in PA, and has to transfer it over to NJ. 14 days after you get your Plates.

Thanks! If anyone is in the NJ area and needs this done PM me for directions to my shop. I'll be more than happy to do it.

Well here's the thing. It comes down to what kind of guy you got doing your inspection. If he's a real D__K then yeah they will look over your car by the book because some love to fail you. If the guys cool he'll wave u by in a jiffy ya know?

In my GF's case for some reason she always gets the A holes!!!!

I've never had luck with at the NJ inspection stations. The moment I rolled into the garage with my IX the guy was already saying that my car was too low and may not clear the ramp for the suspension check. I'm like...uh...it's factory height. He doesn't believe me and points at my SE lip and says "you added a body kit on this thing." I said, no that's how it comes from the factory. The guy actually called over his manager, who then had to tell him that my car is in fact stock height.

All this and they didnt even notice that my front license plate was just being held on by zip ties. Mwahaha.
