carbon fiber exhaust heat shield

im thinking of buying a carbon fiber exhaust heat shield.....the install says i have to drill holes in the bumper. Do u think that if i use double sided molding tape itll be fine??? anybody have gone that route instead of drilling holes, because i really dont want to drill a hole in my bumper.

you could drill holes in the inner part of the bumper where the exhaust sits and itll come out way cleaner and less noticeable. plus if you just use tape someone will just steal it.

Double-sided tape should be just fine for such a small light piece. Just keep an eye on it in case the rumble of the exhaust starts to losen it up a bit over time.

+1 i would also like to know this. Id rather not drill holes...some that ive seen use rivets while other just use double sided tape. Id assume double sided tape would be fine. After all it is carbon fiber so its rather lightweight. Plus how do you think our badging is held on?

the concern is the heatshield is close to a very hot muffler.
however mine is held by double sided industrial strength tape and also these little clips sandwiching the bumper and the heatshield together hidden out of view.
