Lost one and only key to my 04 evo rs

The only thing I have found that I can do is tow the car to columbus ($150) and then have the dealer cut and program two keys ($180). Am I screwed, is this what I need to do, or is there a diy for this?

Pretty sure as long as you have the vin# and the title they will cut the keys for you.

Yeah the only other options are 1. Find the key, or 2. Break in to your car, remove all the door locks, steering column, and trunk lock and replace them from another Evo.

Yeah so spend about 1000 bucks to do all that, what a smart advise!!!

I say tow the car to the dealer and once they verify its yours (either paystubs, or title) then they will cut you one right on the spot, and you will be good to go. $180 is not bad for a key and a fab, i called my local dealer cause i wanted them to cut me a spare key and it was only $80 without the fab.

Who would break into the car and remove everything. Kinda costly, don't you think?

It will be 60 per key, and 60 for programming. Mine don't have key fobs, it is a rs and didn't come with the optional alarm.

I don't think he was serious about you breaking into your car

You should have what looks like a little "micro chip" style little tag with some letters and numbers unique to your car. That is what dealers use to make keys. You could probably just call and get them shipped to you then. If not, call the dealer and ask them what to do, maybe the VIN number is enough. Do not break into the car, there is no diy.

I don't have the little metal tag that came with the car. The car was unlocked, because it was in the garage. I am just going to have my buddy bring his trailer, and we are going to tow it up to Columbus.
