nice work OP. Do you HAVE to remove your oem hood latch set up before this is done, or can you simply install hood pins for aesthetics(together with hood latch)?

you can install them for aesthetics, but why?

If you're going to install for aesthetics, cut up the pins / locks and 3m tape them on so you don't have to drill into your hood

i dunno....maybe the inner ricer in me lol. jk. I honestly like how they look. I would want them to actually function as hood pins yes, but i guess i'd feel better knowing that the hood is also still secured by the oem lock/latch. Heard of the mishaps where studs or pins break and up goes your hood etc.

Thank you!

I know this is an older thread, but I wanted to say thank you to noob12 for posting this step by step guide! I don't have an Evo, I have a Toyota...but the steps were the same. I damaged my OEM steel hood and a CF "OEM style" was cheaper than buying a steel one. I purchased a Carbon Creations CF hood...it had the steel latch, but at highway speeds the hood would shake. Made me paranoid so I picked up a cheap set of pins from Advance Auto Parts. I wanted them for piece of mind not for looks so that's why I went cheap instead of Aerocatch etc. Install went perfect, no extra holes lol. It looks decent with pins, but again I didn't do it for looks THANKS AGAIN noob12!

Thanks! I'm glad it helped some of you out. It was my first time doing this so if I missed anything out, please let me know and I can update it. The write up actually took a lot longer than the install but I'm really glad I did it.
