OEM Spark plug wires dont fit????
I just recently purchased a new set of OEM Spark plug wires and found that do not fit. They install on to the coil packs and the top of the plugs, but they do not seat all the way down on the valve cover. There is like an 1/8th inch gap to the valve cover. Car runs fine but they do not seat correctly. Has anyone else had this problem?

I checked, the part numbers are correct. The other problem I'm having is an idle problem that I have had in the past that has come back. When the heat is on the idle drops from the 1100rpm i have set in ecu flash to correct for the S1 cams, to 500rpm and voltage drops to 13.4 then recovers to 14.5 and the idle recovers slowly. I read that i may need to reset the BISS using the Actuator test in the 2.5 version of evoscan. Is this common?

I did my plugs and wires a few months ago and I believe mine were also like this. I kept pulling them out and checking to see if it was hitting or there was some debris of some sort but there wasn't. It's been a few months and I haven't had any issues.

When you push the boots down on the plug, are you actually hearing and feeling the click of the boot locking onto the top of the plug? I might take a new plug (not installed in the car) and just play with pushing a boot onto it and make sure the boots are clicking onto the top of the plug.
Do you still have the old plug wires to compare the new ones to?

I'm guessing that Mits will say they're working as they should since they conduct current as they are designed to. I know there were some complaints about Magnecor wire sets because they didn't fit tight like the stock wire set did with the overlap on the top of the valve cover. I ran the Magnecor wires for a season and had no problems at all with them and replaced them only because I had a tuner tell me I should.
Do you live in a wet climate? About the only risk I can see is if you drive in a lot of rain, then the loose boot could let in some moisture. If you're pounding on the car in motorsports, the tight fit of the boot can help prevent them from working loose, but otherwise I don't think there's much risk of that on the street.
If you're looking for a tight fit, I'd recommend the Ralliart plug wires. Pricey, but they're a tight fit.
