changing my front driver side axle(help)

i am changing my front driver side axle however the c clip is a little bent. How important is the c clip? Fluid has also leaked out of the tranny where the axle goes. What fluid do i use? I ordered a c lip and tranny seal but not sure what fluid to use. so pls Help

The c clip is very important, this is what holds the axle inside the diff. Without it the axle could fall out and like you stated, leak fluid. Go with GL4 Ams transmission fluid. You will only need 3 quarts because it is only 2.9 quart trans.

hey thanks......i replaced c clip, axle, inner trans seal however took it for ride and now leaks trans fluid. i know the seal only goes in one way and seemed to be in pretty good. i want to think maybe i got a bad seal. im leaning torwards bringing it to shop. whats your opinion on this leak without seeing it.
