How big or thick are the marks? Clay bars work great on finer contaminants but on thicker stuff, I'm not sure it would. When that's the case, I usually use a steam cleaner (the type for your clothes) and soften it up a bit and peel it off.

I'm telling you, try that steamer I mentioned earlier. Cost about $25 at Walmart/Target. Works great. I original purchased it to remove my tints before I got re-tinted again. Works like a charm.

Clay bars will almost take stds off the hooker. Standing on the corner so be careful using them if u have a good brand. I used a carbrite clay bar to get off little rust spots on the rear aka" rail dust" from the brake pads and it started to take the paint off as well.

i use the mothers claybar kit, do it in a shaded area, so excessive spray from the applicator for the claybar kit doesnt dry before you get a chance to use it, if your gonna use rubbing compound use it after washing but before you clay bar it. The rubbing compound will do a better job of removin foreign material on your paint, then itll be a bit rough after the compound, then go over it with clay bar to make it smooth like a strippers butt...haha, then after you claybar go over it with a good wax kit like mothers...then you should be good to go.
