even if the gear is turning fine? spray it where? in the hole where the gear is?

Yes in the hole but if it turns fine then maybe yku rounded off the inner gear.

it might be - that's almost what it feels like but if that's the case these things are really, really weak, and the act of turning it rounded off whatever's inside lol

Are you adjusting the up and down height when the lights are on? If so, you need to make the adjustments when the lights are off because the leveling motor is affecting the up and down height.

I tried it both ways, to no effect.
