Valve Cover repaint/color

Whats up guys the paint on my valve cover is fairly discolored and i was planning on doing a repaint. I have two specific questions, is there a how/guide on how to do the repaint and does anyone know what the oem color is?

Do you plan on rattle canning it? I can't find the color code but this is the perfect time to paint it custom. This is all I can find with a quick google search: http://www.socalevo.net/forum/index.php?topic=112129.0

If you want to do OEM just get some scrap metal and do colors that look close and hold next to the cover and see what it looks like. But I agree with Steeldon, now's your chance to do it custom. Whatever color you want.

I would powder coat as its much more durable then paint. However if you went this route you would need to drill the baffles out, as well as drill and tap all the rivet holes so that you can put cap screws back in. This is necessary to make sure you get all the sand and dirt out from the sand blasting.

Why not just pay someone to powdercoat most you'll pay is $80 and it will take away a big headache.

I don't know if anyone else had this issue. But when I painted mine it eventually cracked from the heat. The valve cover is magnesium and paint doesnt stick to it all that well I am told. So im having mine powder coated. But before powder coating the baffles need to be removed. There is a guide on here how to do it. Between ace hardware, home depot and harbor freight I was able to get everything I needed to remove the baffles and re install them with bolts.

yes. you notice every single little blemish on it when it is white. it looks great when it's clean the first couple days but after that you will constantly get it dirty if you work on your car
