Help with Removing crankshaft timing pulley

Changing the oil pump..... I've read about people using a 1/2" impact gun to remove the crankshaft timing sprocket, but how do you stop the pulley from spinning? I know i could lock the flywheel, but the trans is long installed. Any other methods?

Thanks in advance.

ok. So that takes care of it as far as removal. How did you torque it back to spec? I think its like 124 ft/lbs or so. Did you torque it back, or did you just impact it back on? Says to torque it to 123 ft/lbs.

I took mine off with the impact and slammed it back with the impact and a 120 ft. lb. torque stick. I have had no problems.
