Is there any difference from the 5 to 6 blade wheel, besides 1 less fin?

Buschur after testing both claims there is no difference between the two wheels. Not saying the turbos are the same because I don't know.

I am confused also I read where the WR is the same as the IX 20g and now this is another version. I dont want a WR, I am also confused with how come if it's the same as the WR it does perform so much better. Before I saw less than great performance #'s but now I read that they are the same. Whats the real deal.
I want a IX 20g but with so many variations my head is spining. Do you guys have any Dyno deals or customer feedback with your turbo's and am I write to consider that this is the the original IX 20g Buschur hade or completly different?

Let me see if I can clarify - someone please correct me if I am wrong. The BR 20G-9 is NOT a WR. It is an EVO9 turbo with a WR compressor wheel and 20G cover. This has 5 blades. The TC.COM 20G-9 is an EVO9 turbo with the six blade 20G wheel that David designed and TC.COM stole and is now selling to distributors as their own creation at a price that undercuts the originator. Like how SSAutochrome copied AMS's intercooler (allbeit with inferior chinese cores and end tanks) and is selling it for $200 vs. $700.

Unfortunately that is what sucks about free enterprise. If you don't patent your idea someone comes along and copies it, or worse, makes the same thing the originator does and finds a way to sell it at a lower price and capitalizes on the ingenuity of the originator. In the case of the intercoolers it is not that bad because now anyone educated on the subject knows that with the SSAC product you get what you pay for. It may be good to adapt for use on a $2000 DSM that you are trying to build cheap because it works better than the stock side mount, but the stock EVO IC has proven to perform as well as the SSAC unit. So if you get one you are wasting your money. But in this case both turbos probably work equally as well, so it is evem more shady of practice from TC.com. Personally, I would like to see a boycot of TC.com.

I think that about sums it up I think. Flame on . . . I can take it.

BR 20G-9 and the Turbocharger Evo IX 20G are then same with the exception of 5 blades vrs 6. Same compressor covers. The ForcedPerformance WR has the same 20G wheel. It's the one BR sells now due to the falling out they had with TC.com.
Two people make the wheels, TC.Com and FP.
By the way, This is my next mod. I'd like to get the BR 20G, but it's hard to pass up a $495 savings.
Turbochargers.com has done work for me before. I had great customer service and great product.

I believe so, but you should ask David or FP to be sure.

Not so much a falling out as a stab in the back.

It is only a $300 savings, and with the BR unit you get the HP waste gate actuator I believe. Also, BR is the only one out there with the most experience tuning the 20G-9. Personally I will only let the company that sells the turbo tune my car. If I bought a AMS GT42R I would not have anyone else tune it.

FWIW, TC.COM has done ALOT of work for BR in the past and look what they did to him. As an individual consumer buying only one turbo do you expect them to respect you more than a large volume buyer like BR?? Seems like they will try to make a buck wherever possible.

Personally, I just ordered a 20G-9 from BR today. I feel that what they give to the EVO community is worth supporting, even if I have to spend a little more.

I'm inclined to do the same thing. Buscher is a quality company. Still saving my turbo dimes and nickles up right now.

I saved mine for quite a while. I've got a decent job, but after mortgage and bills it doesn't leave a lot to play with. Luckily I just sold my '79 Camaro Z-28, so I have quite a bit to work with finally.

Yeah, when I first bought mine I said, Catback and that's it!!! Now I think about 7 to 8 K later I'm doing the thing I thought that I'd never do, planning a turbo upgrade!

Talk about mod creep

Yep, for the first year I was alll about keeping my warranty safe, but now it is like open the flood gates!

Thinking back I did the same thing when I raced mountain bikes and quads. Kept them pretty stock for a while, but now the only stock thing on either of them is the frame. . .

Hopefully for my retirement I don't do the same thing with the EVO !!!

Sorry to go OT, but what did I miss in the Buschur TC.com saga? In Buschur's post about the TC and FP deals, he stated he made the decision to move to FP because they currently had EVO 9 turbos and TC didn't. Unless there is something I've missed, I'm not real sure how you can say TC screwed Buschur.

^ There is plenty of discussion on it in some other 20G-9 threads. Alot of info has come out in the last couple days. I won't bring it up again.

Pivt - I think it is worth the money, that's why I bought one. It does not spool up quicker than the evo 8 turbo with or without the 10.5. What it does do is flow a bit more air, and also hold more boost higher in the rev range. If you are only going to be running 20-22 psi on straight pump gas it is probably not the turbo for you. If you are going to be running higher boost on alcohol injection or race gas this turbo has been shown to make about 30 more horsepower. When you figure total cost is around $1600 (with install kit), that's alot better than $4000 or $4500 for a GT series turbo kit or 50 trim.

If you want to be stock appearing and have moderate power, or if you autocross, go with the BR 20G-9. If you want big power for street action or drag racing, go with a gt35 or something like that. JMHO . . .
