I hadn't posted on this thread, yet, because I wanted to get the post-mortem on what had happened.
I'm out in nowhere with nothing but a Mitsu dealership for true Evo service. There is, however, a race shop nearby and that's where I went to have my suspension done. When I took the car back in to tighten it up and double-check settings, I ordered this set and tossed them at the guy to do the install.
Longer story shorter, my trans case cracked. I took it straight to Mitsu and got a new Shep trans ordered (my old one's TRE and Jon was on vacation, unfortunately). The tech says the bolts pulled out of the trans mount and the spacer for the trans mount was resting on the undercarriage just below the mount.
Today the new one was bolted in. While doing that, the Mitsu tech decided that the reason they stripped out (although over-torqueing is somewhat possible?) was because the bolts were so damn short. He found a couple of longer bolts in the shop, bolted them in, and is confident the new mount will be fine.
I called AWD just now to have them verify for me that there are short and long bolts in the kit - and there are. So, I've got two long bolts where the two short ones should have been and am out many thousands of dollars for trans and labor.
Live and learn.
Thought I'd pass it on here. USE THE LONG BOLTS on the TRANS MOUNT!
Otherwise, I love the mounts. The feel is an immense improvement!
