I don't know what people are talking about the red with no clearcoat. It does have it.

i have a red evo and i have swirl marks. BUT, to see them you have to have the right light and the right angle. My paint has not faded and when I wash it, it's just as gorgeous as the ones on the lot. Swirl marks are inevitable. The darker the paint the more noticable they will be. This goes for any car. Granted Mitsu paint isn't the best in the world, but if you take care of the car, it will be fine. Don't get white or silver, EVERYBODY has those colors.

The comment about the red EVO's not having a clear coat was stupid, what kind of new car comes without a clear coat on the paint? I have a Rally Red EVO MR and have had no problems with the paint, I've already wax'd and polished it and it looks awesome. Although red can start to fade with time, meaning years, it all depends on the owner. Just take care of the paint and it will last as long as you own the car.

Red was my first choice, but I change to Yellow ( chinese power! ) J/K

I took yellow because I think it's not a common color you can see everyday on the road. I wanted something different and yellow make you going faster

Look up my car in the search. My car is garage kept and it has numerous coats of Zaino on it. It is driven everyday to and from work. It's not a garage ***** that is stored all the time. It is driven in the rain, sun, and snow. It's all how you take care of it.

I notice swirls in my paint, but your gonna get that anywys. Red doesn't show it hardly at all IMO.

I've had my Rally Red Evo for a year now, and the paint looks absolutely fine. The car sat on the dealer lot about six months before I bought it, so it has seen at least 18 months of exposure to the elements. No evidence of fading here in the harsh Southern sun, nor does any paint come off when I either wash or wax it. I've waxed it twice with McGuiar's products. I do have swirls though. They aren't terribly noticable, but when the light hits the car just the right way, I see them. I can polish them out with swirl remover, but they eventually come back. It seems to be the nature of the beast.

There is a very long thread here in evom about whether the red has a clearcoat or not. The guy who did the research eventually was told by Mitsubishi (in Japan) that clearcoat is not applied to the Rally Red cars (and a couple of other, but not all, the Evo colors). Car manufacturers are going to a one-part paint system -- anything to save a few bucks and improve manufacturing cycle time. Whether it is true or not, I can't say. It doesn't look like the paint on my car has a clear coat, but I don't exactly have a well-trained eye.

That said, I think the Evo looks really sharp in red. It's the second-rarest color (yellow being first, of course), and it gives a little uniqueness over all the white and silver Evos that seem to be so common at Evo meets. I heartily recommend it.
