Evo Sound SYstem and Navi System

Hi guys,
I'm planning on buying either a navigation system and sound system for the Evo.
What do you guys think of the stock speakers? Does it need a change?

Any recommendation on the player for roughly $100-$300?
The major reason i want to change is because I want to play them as MP3 instead of the whole CD which requires lots of cd changing...

How about the navigator? Anyone got them in your car?
any suggestion?

stock sound system is crap. it's your basic economy paper speaker crap. I don't know about the upgraded sound system you can get as an option. Regardless if you save the option and use the same amount of money instead of paying Mitsu you can do better on your own.

I have used many brands of decks, but the last 4 have been Alpine. I have had my Apine in my Evo for 1.5 years and before that it was in my Rodeo for over a year. I have never had an Alpine fail and I beat on my decks. Alpine is the best IMO. You can get a great Alpine deck for under 300, with lots of power and MP3 capability. Go to onlinecarstereo.com they have the best prices and free shipping.

if by player you mean head unit, your looking at a hell of alot more than 100-300 if you want nav. you can get the pioneer avic-n1 for 1200-2000 or cheaper depending on how well you can shop.

your grammer sucks "...I'm planning on buying either a navigation system and sound system for the Evo. "

get a sound system and depending on how far you want to go with it i wouldnt change the speakers. if you are going hardcore i would then consider changing the speakers.

you only need navigation if you dont know where your going

I think Eclipse remains the best bang for your buck as far as sound quality goes, but last I knew even the high end units require an add on module to play mp3s. I'd take v8 killers suggestion and go with an alpine. And defintely change out the speakers. With a mid range head unit and 4 mid range coaxial speakers you're probably looking more around $500 bucks all sed and done. Go for the headunit first, then upgrade speakers as you can. (And do yourself a favor and by a headunit that has the preamp outs in the back so you can later get into an outboard amp.)

And your spelling sucks; you spelled "grammar" wrong. I would suggest an Alpine head unit. You will want to get one of their middle line receivers, something like the 9827. It can play MP3s and is about 250. I had that in my car before and it was a great receiver.

The pioneer avic-N1 is sweet! It will tell you your G-force and lateral G- force among MANY other things and it's touch screen. I think it's hand down best out right now, I'm gonna get one when the prices go down a little bit.

Lets see, in my car I have the discontinued kenwood KDC-519 head unit ($250), 2 pairs of infinity reference 6.5" ($100 a pair, but many times you can find them for buy one, get one free or maybe half off) and an 8" Kicker solobaric L7 (only $130 on etronics.com!) in the trunk in a box that I made hooked to a small mono MTX amp (200). System sounds great, but I wouldnt recommend kenwood head units, I was partial to them before but mine keeps breaking so I'm goin to Alpine.
