Painting A-Pillars

Got a question for you guys. I'm thinking about painting my A-Pillars black and was wondering if anyone had done it before? I've seen it done before but can't remember where i saw it. Does it require sanding, primer, then painting? And what paint would anyone recommend? Flat black? is there something thats "almost" black because our dash and interior is not quite BLACK black. Any help you guys could give would be awesome.

I"ve done it. I used interior vinyl paint, two coats (I'd use three though) and it came out perfect. Just give it a few hours to set properly.

My Autometer pillar came black so I figured it was easier to color match black then it was the greyish tone that is stock. Turned out great. Looks stock.

Awesome...

what brand of paint and where did you get it, if you remember off-hand? does it come out flat black or shiny? any sanding or primer? should I use rubbing alcohol and get any remaining armor-all type detailing stuff of the pillars? Got any pictures of them painted black?

thanks for the quick reply...

I think Krylon makes this paint. BE SURE to let the paint dry completely after each coat, or you might not be happy with the results. If I were doing it, I'd spread it out over the course of an entire day just to be safe, giving each coat a few hours to dry.

I believe you can get both gloss and flat black.

The paint is dry to the touch within 30 minutes. The instructions are wait the 30 minutes between coats and wait about 2 hours before reinstall so it can cure properly. I did that and i've had NO problems with mine. As for cleaning I've used mothers interior detailing spray on it and its fine.

just finished and installed... heres the pictures of the a-pillars in the car. kinda a crappy day outside so they're not the best pictures.

the pillars came out pretty shiny so i'm thinkin about goin back and re-painting them with flat black. i used krylon fuzion the first time, no sanding, no primer, just really cleaned them well. anyone know if krylon fuzion makes a flat black? I might just go grab any old can of flat and start painting... anyways heres the pics. and click the links to see full sized versions.
