nope, no hood pins required at all... these CF hoods are reinforced, and are a bit heavier than the stock hood. Plus, they have a nice sturdy latch

Less, that's all that really matters. Search and you may find the weighy but I know it is proven t be lighter. (stock)

What's the point of a CF hood if it's heavier? Hmmm

I have a ViS Cf hood on my mirage and I went through this situation. I just relized instead of being so damn worried about it, just get the damn pins and not have to worry about getting a face full of carbon fiber. Function over form. I didn't like the look of hood pins either, but I think if it serves a function, go for it. Now it's lame when you see a car with a stock hood with hood pins doing it for the look

a CF hood that is heavier than stock? wTF?

so it's always a good idea to use hood pins with a cf hood (as they are usually ligher than stock and hardly ever seal correctly.) One good gust of wind catches it and you can wave bye bye. I did run a cf hood on my IS300 for a couple of years with no problem though.

i remember reading somwhere on this forum that the Seibon OEM style hood was about a pound heavier than the stock one. The stock hood being around 21 lbs. and the Seibon 22. somthing

Then if the C/F hood is heavier, then why would u need hood pins if the stock hood is lighter?

Carbon is more prone to flexing then Aluminum.

We recommend hood pins with any Carbon Hood. But we did not use them on our shop STI.

Install the hood. Grab and yank on it see how it feels. If there is even a single doubt that it is not tight and fits well. Call me up I ALWAYS have hood pins in stock.

But to be safe we do recommend them with any hood.
