Effects of bumper bar removal for aftermarket body kits?

i want to purchase a cwest kit and was wondering what kind of harm there would be from removing the bumper bar? i have read a couple of things on various posts but i want everyone's input on this. i know quite a few people have aftermarket body kits, and most require the removal of the bumper bar. i want to know what kind of safety issue would occur and if its worth getting an aftermarket body kit.

nothing, just that insurance might not cover it. Safety issue? I doubt there will be any real safety thingy as in it'll increase your chance of survival at a 60mph front crash. Good luck.

I have just the front bumper. I trust my brakes more than the person behind me's brakes. But, I don't see a problem with it. It's just there for small parking lot incidents. It's hollow and would crush upon any serious hit.

Heck, my rear one was ruined when I was rear ended and the car was doing about 20mph and I was stopped.

i have a gialla front bumper, which required the removal of the crash bar... it is a safety concern, but like whats his face said it's a 5mph support bar. it's not gonna make a diffrence in a 35mph or up crash...i wouldn't worry to much about it, as far as the insurance, what they don't know don't hurt'em.....

If you really want, i remembered people on the Is300 forums trimming their body kits to fit the bar. Up to you really.

That crash bar protect the vehicle from costly recover from accident below 10-15 miles/hour
But above that speed with or without the carsh bar you are yourown. (my opinion)

I sort of agree with this... This bar will protect against a Civic going 5 mph, but not an Escalade which everyone has and has 24s which make it stop 20 ft later so chances are you will get hit above the 3 mph limit with an escalade.

wouldn't matter since they sit higher anyway. Your hood would take the brunt of that wreck

Thnk about it this way, Insurance screws you more than they already do. But in the UK and in Japan they have been making Evo's for 15 years without the brace.

It's true that the bar are for low impact but if you do get into an accident and when the insurance company does their investigation and finds out the bar is missing, good luck on your claim.

I've heard of a bunch of silvias w/ body kits that requires removal of the crash bar, and frontal damage from an impact is considerably increased as opposed to not using the bar
