Why not have both? No one ever said that to go fast, your car needs to look like it was pulled from a lake.

pulled from a lake?? All I am saying is that I would buy the clear cam gear cover as it is functional as it is price effective. If the price is comparable, it would definatly sell. Especially for the show guys...

The price for machined aluminum can't really be comparable unfortunately. The cost of the raw aluminum itself is prohibitive. Like I said, something like this isn't for everyone. If someone is building on a budget, then by all means purchase Lexan, or CF components. However for those who want the best, and don't mind paying the small preminum, there is a machined aluminum option.

Selling 100 might be a bit optimistic, people are still on the CF craze. I'd be down for one but not at $400. I'd only use it for show purposes. I suggest making 10 or so, and see how they sell, that should cover your operational costs.

That would be an option, however, if they were to be made in a batch of 10, the price would be clsoer to 800 dollars per set, just because of the set-up costs, CAD drawings, ect. having to be amortized into the cost.

If you were to call a lot of these shops and ask them for their aluminum cover, they;ll tell you that they're sold out for now. Unfortunately, the truth is that the machinist is losing money on every piece if he sells it in batches of 10, or even 50.

It's funny to think that people still are on the CF craze, but so far, there's not much alternative.

I would go with a spark plug cover. I think I will keep the clear cam cover I have for now.

It seems like a lot of people are leaning towards the coiul pack cover, so producing only that may be an option.
