2.there is only a very small piece of metal inside that will need to be cut.. but its easy we used a pair of tin snips. the piece needed to be cut is obvious when you open it up.

3.yes as i said before , there is definitly some dremel action needed, but it goes quick. anyone can do it if they take the time out. its not THAT intensive, its only trimming a piece of plastic.

all these parts are replace-able the only major thing would be to buy a new plastic bezel , if you "mess up"

as for the other plug and play kit..
-you still have to remove the cables and still have to take out the ac controls
-use a 99 Galant climate control
-still re install the cables and ac control

so its basically paying $300 in parts you dont really need and are a downgrade from what you already have. personally id put that $300 dollars i saved, into my motor or other things.

im not knocking the kit thats coming out or whatever, different strokes for different folks.

for like $195 youll have the parts you need to complete the project with your own EVO climates.

hey bro, it looks pretty good.

just wanted to let you know that the kit kmxxbadboy is talking about doesnt use 99 galant controls. it uses the oem lancer/evo controls as well as a genuine 2-DIN bezel (not overlay) and custom radio relocation kit for the larger controls. the price is around $295 and includes everything necessary for a total DIY in 30 MIN, 2-DIN swap that looks, feels, and performs 100% oem.

this isnt a fight at all. i think BANKS' dash looks pretty good. i was just addressing some misleading information that he perceived about our kit.

well for $295 it would be more worth it to buy that kit, that would have been the route i would have took for an extra $100.

if it uses the oem controls, what do you use as an "over lay" for the climate controls?

as i stated in the beginning, im not knocking anyones kits, im showing how i did it as an alternative if you plan on saving money.

as i stated in the beginning, im not knocking anyones kits, im showing how i did it as an alternative if you plan on saving money.

the kit is going to include two primary components, as well as a fully-illustrated instruction manual (to allow for a simple 30min DIY install). lot's of options TBA as well..

the first piece is not an overlay, but an actual bezel with retention clips to fit in place of the oem single-DIN bezel. it includes a pocket for those of you looking to keep the oem headunit but looking for an alternative single-din gauge mounting solution as well as a cleaner looking dash. the color and grain is identical to the stock black dash.

the second piece is a full custom lower "radio relocation kit" developed by orbital for this kit. it is a total 1-1/2 din bezel designed for the accomodation of the oem hvac controls. the color and grain of this piece is also identical to the stock black dash. it also looks 100% OEM.

expect our kit to hit the market very soon. i realize that ive been saying that for awhile, but i didnt forsee the problems ive had in the kits development. needless to say, the prototype bezels have been shipped to our manufacturer who will be mass-producing them. i have given them a strong sense of urgency for the completion of this product, as i know everyone is anxious for its release.. and i have alot of money invested in it that i need to recover since im getting married in about a year and a half.

i really respect BANKS' and anyone else who has attempted to do a 2-DIN system in the evo. this wasnt an easy task, but it was something very necessary. i assure you all that my company, orbital, is dedicated to manufacturing the finest interior products for the evo and lancer community. this dash kit is only the beginning, we have quite a few products under development which will make you all drool... thanks for the support!!

here is the thread for anyone thats interested in jumping on to the initial GB:
