Double Din touchscreen w/ Car PC installed!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, some of you may have been following this thread but if not now that I'm done I'm making a new one.
I moved the climate controls to the bottom, which IMHO wasn't as terrible as some had made it out to be. It wasn't easy, by any means, but definately do-able. I crafted a carbon fiber faceplate for the climate controls but am now leaning toward buying the injection molded piece spoolingEVOx is making for his group buy. It will look much more OEM that way.
Here's some pics of the screen installed in the dash, flush mount.
It also came with a wireless keyboard and mouse. The mouse of course I don't need since it's touchscreen.
Here is the PC mounted uner the driver's seat. Slot loading disc drive facing toward the door so I can pop in a DVD while driving.
I used the audio outs from the computer to run to a 4-channel Kenwood amp to power the inside speakers, and a mono JL amp to power my sub. It actually sounds very good.
The OS is Windows XP Media Center Edition with Remote Control.
Specs on the computer are 120GB HD, 512 RAM, CDRW+-/DVD drive, built-in wireless, etc. I will be adding GPS very shortly.
I must say that this is by far, the coolest mod I have done to my car so far. With ~800 CD's it's going to take a while to get all my music on there but after I'm all finished I know it will be worth it.
Any questions, comments, whatever are more than welcome.
Here is a link to the website where I bought the computer: http://www.logisysus.com

My computer is model M250 and my screen is model 700TSV.

Some questions, do you have to shut down the computer before turning off the car? Also, vibration can really damage a spinning hard drive, how is that issue handled on your car PC?

thats cool, i guess???? i'm just not into the whole pimp my ride thing.... i mean a nice head unit is cool and all, but a touch screen PC, thats just not my style! especially not in a evo!!! i could see it in a lime green honda civic with lambo doors and shaved mirrors with a huge fart can.....diffrent strokes for diffrent folks...i guess?

so im wondering how the touchscreen integrates with the windows environment. is it just a plug and play deal? or is there some sort of hardware/software deal that allows you to move the mouse using the touchscreen? nice install by the way, but i agree you should get that lower knob panel from the other thread
