Ebay Vortex Generator Installed. (PICS)
I bought an Ebay Vortex Generator from a guy on here. I have been working on it for 2 days and finally it is almost ready for install.
For those of you that want to get one, and get it cheap. It is going to take some work to get it to fit nicely.
First thing I noticed is that the antenna hole is way too big. With a littly time and some body filler it can be made smaller.
Second, on the ends there isn't notches for the gutter trim hold down clips. Just fit it, mark it, and remove the material to clear the hold down clips.
The front and back edges are a bit rough and not cut low enough for a good tight fit. I filed the edges to get them even and close.
The over all condition of the plastic is a bit wavy. I had to sand, prime, sand, prime...Etc. to get it smooth.
I am on the final stages of clear coating it. I believe that a little TLC and some pride can go a long way.
I fully understand now why the factory one is so expensive. This thing is a lot of work to get it right.
I will try and post pics after it is installed.

I paid 40 bucks. I also paid another 20 bucks in paint, filler and supplies. It is in the process of drying. Final clear coats are done. I need to fine sand it and polish it before it goes on the car. All is done with common spray cans.
The only camera I have is a cell phone type. I will do the best I can when it gets on the car.

I wonder if the eBay one is even designed properly. I know that the factory one designed the height of the fins to correspond to the height of the laminar flow boundary layer, which is why it can reduce turbulence and increase down force (albeit very slightly). If not designed properly, there's a possibility that it produces negative effects. I'd be curious if someone compared the eBay vs. factory one side by side and took some measurements of the dimensions.

They look nearly identical. Honestly I don't think there is a difference at all. The factory one is just finised a lot better. The Ebay one needs a lot of tooling and prep to get it to fit.

Looks lik ethe fins are all completely straight...am I right? If so I wouldnt consider it as the authentic ones are angled for a reason. Aside from that it looks pretty nice.
