HPDE pics (from a distance)

I love track days. These are a few shots my friend snapped (far away on the paddock tower) from last weekends hpde at barbers in b'ham. No pro shots, just thought I'd share. I shot some incar video, here's a quick edit of a lap also. Some nice subies, especially the (very quick) blue sti below. Intermediate group was good people, plenty of friendly point bys and great laps. Everyone had a good time, except for a s/c mustang in novice group who hit the wall hard. I was the only evo running, but evoreel and sara came out to watch.

Here's the video, choo choo choose wide on the ratio:

A plethora of 997s.

Sorry, it's quite real. Porsche moved their driving experience program to Barber Motorsport Park when it opened a few years ago. To say that they keep things neat and organized is an understatement. Pic is real. Cars are a dream.

Here's another shot.

Sorry, I get a lot of wind noise with the windows and roof open. You can hear the exhaust, but it definitely gets drowned in the video replay. I will post another lap up tonight, no music.

Most groups that run driver ed events try to give you four to five sessions per day, usually 20-30 minute sessions. Time flies, I always want a few more laps when they bring you in, but it's about all you should subject your car to if you're really pushing. My advans get greasy after about 18 minutes and hard braking will eventually induce some fade. Not to mention that in warm weather, you are soaked after a good run. I am usually a bit sore in the arms and back the days after too.

The only downside is if someone has a bad off or pukes something on the track. It could cut in to your session and possibly those ahead. The efficiency of the corner workers and track staff usually keep these delays to a minimum, not to mention most drivers never experience these situations.
