Ahh... i love it when the UPS guy drops off a package!

Just received delivery of a nice set of Boston Acoustic SL60 Component speakers.

I'll be installing this weekend and taking some photos to make a little write up on the installation.

Its a pair of component speakers. for the fronts. I'll be replacing the rears later.

the rears aren't nearly as important since they're only for rear fill.

Edit: I got them for $180 shipped off ebay new. They're about 50% less there than the MSRP for the speakers is.

I havent even put them in but i've taken my panels off to put in sound deadening and i'll say that the stock SSL speakers are "garbage". They look like your typical very low quality speaker with foam surrounds and crappy paper woofers. The rear speakers in the SSL package are the same.

I'm pretty much removing the entire SSL speaker setup.

I've already got a clarion deck. Soundstream reference 1000s sub amp. Two boston acoustics 12" subs. Soundstream reference 500s amp for the front speakers. I'll probably run the rears off the deck since i'll be eventually buying another set of Boston Acoustic rears but they'll be the SX series and will be Coax speakers which don't need much power.

Hmmm. Did you buy them from a certified BA dealer ???

You may be interested in this warning from the BA website..

Just looking out for a fellow evo owner.
BTW - BA is some of the best sounding speakers I ever heard.

yea.. stock system sucks... i upgraded mine and i love it 1000% percent more

Infiniti kappa Perfect 6.1's over on this side
powered by a Polk Momo 800:4 amp (200 watts per channel (100rms each)) or something like that

for bass i have a single 12w6v2 powered by orion 600:1 D mono

oh and headunit is alpine cda-9855

Its a pretty good setup i think , but it needs to be tuned

thanks for the link. While these did not come from an authorized dealer... they are brand new and legit. I'll definitely test them out before installing them to make sure they work properly.

I got some really nice JBL home theater speakers a couple years ago the same way. While they were a great deal, they were not from an authorized dealer. But... they were perfectly good and personally... i've never really cared about speaker warranties anyways. As long as they work when they're new, i'm cool with it and have yet to ever blow any aftermarket speakers out.

Careful --- they look suspiciously deep!

I couldn't get my Infiniti "Perfect" component speakers to fit, but I hope you don't have the same issue!

You had kappa perfects?

You know what i did honestly i took the stock speaker and gutted it and used the frame and attached my kappa to that (allowed me to keep the stock bolting location and cleared everything perfectly

They're not very deep at all. They're 2 7/16" deep. They look stretched from the photo due to a short lens and the tiny tapering neodynium magnet.

edit: I also checked with crutchfields speaker fit guide and it says they do fit.

.... THEY HAD BETTER FIT!!!!! lol.

Well the good news is that the woofer fits with enough clearence for the window.

But while i had the door panel off, i broke a clip... and realized that last time i had the panel off when i did my sound deadening i had put it on incorrectly. lol. Its fixed now though.

Yeah. Thats "Oops" for you.

What about a tracking number? You check that out? They tend to be on time according to tracking.

Well... except for a nice trip a sale i made on ebay to a guy in the bay area decided to make a trip to the east coast before coming all the way back west again to hit San Fran.
