I'm glad I looked at this. I didn't think I would be able to put a rack on my car with the aluminum roof but I have seen plenty of MR's with them here. Has anyone ever had any trouble with it on your MR?

Stupid question, I tend to drive well over 1 hour or so of highway miles to get to my snowboarding areas. Do you guys worry about stuff on the road flying up and messing up your board? Or do you even worry about getting your board and bindings really dirty? (Think wet winter, I store mine inside my apt)

I was thinking about using masking or painters tape to cover the initial surface that's most exposed. what do you think? Will it strip the snowboard wax?

^how about road salt + street water smacking at it at 65 mph for 1 hour? Would it at least strip the wax?

The q towers are what mounts to your car that holds the bars. So you need them. The absolutly necessary parts are the bars, q towers, and q clips. The rest are accessories. I use it all the time to haul things Bach from home depot and sears.

Looks like the typical Q-Tower / Powderhound set-up with aftermarket end caps. I've seen these on-line somewhere, but can't recall where. Google Yakima parts and you should find them.
