NEED HELP! Installing Evo 9 JDM Rear Bumper

How did you guys get the license plate bracket to fit in the hole? There is no way in hell that bracket will bend all the way back and up. DId you guys cut and weld it in place? Any tips would be appreciated.

Here is a picture of the license bracket

Here is a pic of someone bending the bracket, but it is still not aligned properly. I want to move that bracket up and back more and there is no way in hell it's gonna bend anymore.

A buddy of mine who owns a body shop cut the bracket to fit and then re-riveted it back in place.

Hope that helps.

you can't understand what angle that HOW TO shows...I couldn't @least.
He's all over the place...you can't tell whats up or down.

I took the bracket off completely...and smashed (rubber mallet) the "H" (that has curves befoe you smash it) looking bracket FLAT.
there should still be the 2 holes at the top of the "H".

Now when you took the bumper off there are 2 Points that actually go through the Trunk area that are held down by bolts on the inside.
You can perfectly sandwich the top of the H between the Bumper and the car....and the license plate will (hang) be @ the PERFECT angel and just low enough to read the whole plate and still hide the Lights that shine on it.
The bracket should be kind of shapped like a \_/ at the top (where its sandwiched) and l l at the bottom to mount the plate up.

The 2nd pic you can still see alot of the lights hanging down....mine is just hidden behind the bumper.

Best tool you can get is a Drill bit that Drills out spot welds.Drill a smal pilot hole..then this thing surround the Spot weld and "circles" it and the spot weld wil "POP" off literaly.
Was a life saver for this mod and my old JDM ITR conversion.

I also had to bend the license plate bracket. I removed the existing rivets and than bent each arm than re-rivited the hold frame to braces

The results

That's how I did it also. Follow the How To that i posted. It shows you how to bend the plate bracket and where to rivet.

The plate position is moved up about 2 inches and holes that were drilled then, rivets were put in. If you don't do this the plate sits way to low.
