Painted my taillights

Yup...I was going to send them out to EvoDave to get them painted, but figured I'd try it myself first. I was originally going to take the light apart and paint the inside of the plastic cover, but I wasn't having any success so I decided to just paint the outside. They turned out pretty good for an amateur job - let me know what you think!

Obviously not EvoDave quality, but hey...it only cost me $4

Really simple...again, this isn't going to be perfect quality but it looks pretty good.

I just went to Wal-Mart (or any store that sells plastic models) and bought some Testors Candy Apple Red Transparent (that's the name of the color) paint in a small spray can. Then I cleaned the lenses really well, let them dry thoroughly, then used masking tape to cover the turn signal area. Then I took them outside, one at a time, and did two light coats of paint allowing 10 minutes between coats. Then I let them dry for 30 minutes and reinstalled them. That's basically it. Not sure how well it'll hold up against the weather and such, but we'll see I guess. I think it looks pretty good too!

It's pretty dark outside today, so you'll have to wait until it gets sunny before any really good pics.

And I'll take some pics with the lights on right now

Thanks for putting up what type of paint. I may just do this to my taillights now. It should hold up just fine in the weather. Those look real good.

Not unless I get someone to take the picture for me or sit in the car. They're going to be red...no way of getting around that.

You don't have to have the car on for the reverse lights to come on.
