Pics + Video From My First AutoX
Well went to a test & tune autox session today at Nassau Colliseum, where a lot of guys new to autox'ing (such as I) had the opportunity to try it out for the first time and learn on a small course.
I got plenty of runs in today. My first 2 runs, I went with an instructor. After that I went solo for the rest of the day.
I was originally scared of going off the course because the cones seemed too confusing when you look from outside the track. But once you walk the course once or twice, it really helps a lot, not to mention watching others do it before you. Luckily I didn't go offcourse (till my last run, i skipped a cone ...i was tired hehe), and i didn't hit a single cone all day long
As for times, not that most of us were really shooting for the best times, but rather to learn how to drive the course, and to maintain some consistency between runs.
My first run of the day was 49.00, and at the end of the day I ran my best time of 45.28.
After a whole day of autox'ing, i had a great time. I was plenty tired, from being in the sun all day long. Everbody I met today was really friendly and helpful, and full of adivce.
I'd like to give a special thanks to Kevin (lanevo) and Jan (05 RS) for their help and advice throughout the day. Thanks guys!
And lastly, to those people who have been thinking of doing autoX, DEFINATLEY TRY IT ATLEAST ONCE! It's tons of fun
Anyways, onto the pics and video..

Looking good.
It's even more fun when you realize that, on a course like that, you'd be at high slip angles (i.e. sliding) and barely in control about 95% of the time to get a really fast time.
With all those transitions, having the car balanced at the edge of adhesion is the best way to negotiate the obstacles. I must say that the MR seems to understeer at low speeds a lot less than my Evo 8; that limited slip really seems to help.
Send more videos! You'll notice that when you really start pushing, you'll get to see some air under your inside rear wheel. It adds to the drama.

Hey nocturnal
I'm about half an hour from Nassau Colliseum. I'm curious about AutoX. where can i find information about when they have the events, rules and reg, and how much it cost.
Thanks
Shawn

Yea i messed around w/the settings a bit. Kept it more on the stiffer side though. To be honest, i don't have enough experience autox'ing yet, to really notice a big difference in how the minor changes in the dampning affected my performance.
I was too busy just having fun lol.

After doing a road course event, that looked pretty boring. Its good your using the car for what its built for.
Time to do some road racing Najeeb! Car looks great as always....
