EVO VIII wing repair / customization
The original wing had some nasty nasty clear coat rot, so i sanded the deck and went a little more
Oh yes here it is, tommorow its gonna get clear coated with the urethane based stuff. Blending around where the existing clear is might be a trick, ill see... what do ya think so far?

Hey bro did you just sand the top of the wing? Do you leave the bottom untouched where the clearcoat remains in good shape? My wing is bad too.....so basically all we do is sand down the fin part and then clean, and then apply a clearcoat finish? Is there any primer that is needed?
I took my wing to a local body shop and the guy couldn't understand how he was just going to sand down the fin to it's origainal state, then just apply another clearcoat and have it looking like the bottom of the wing again? Any thoughts? What grit sandpaper and where can I pick up the clearcoat needed to do this myself?
BTW: awesome creativity on the mitsu emblem.... original!

Yeah i left the clear under the wing because it was still good. I used 220 800 1500 grit wetsanding the deck only and 220 and 1500 wetsanding on the sides. Thanks for the props on the emblem, i got scared when i started sanding and i hit the primer layer and i though i had abs plastic sides. I heard the 05+ models have the plastic sides. Im using urethane clear coat with UV protectant. And no primer. Walmart had the clear coat, it may be ****ty and not last but we did my neighbors cf hood also, his hood was in bad shape too. My wing did take some sun damage, you can start to see where it was changing color, which means i waited too long to do this project, but its barely noticable. Whew!

The final product! sorry about the smudge on the deck, I had just washed it and it was the towel drying.
See where the urethane was yellow and make the triangle around where i masked. It was a secret how i got it back off and looking good again
With the masking on
Bam, It started all chipping, flaking, dull, and buttugly. For only $15 in sandpaper, a $6 shaker can and around 30 hours of work i made it look pretty close to new again. Not bad

Another dumb question to add....... how do you make sure that the ends of your spoiler are CF and not plastic? I have an 04 model, and when I went to push on the ends a bit, it flexed a little like plastic..... do I already have my answer?
