I don't mean to sound rough. The nature of C/F is such that it offers strength, rigidity and lower weight. That is why it is often used in racing. When C/F is used in applications solely for the appearance of speed, it's the technical definition of the word poseur. To site an even worse example, when C/F overlays are glued onto existing parts, they actually add to the overall weight, defeating the purpose altogether.
All this said, if your original wing/lid did weigh 52lbs, then I can see why you replaced it.

the cf hood got destroyed by grey hound still waiting for the reimbursement
there was a wing on my rs due to the previous owner it may have not even been a stock wing by the looks of it either way it def saved me weight as did my jic coilovers and volk te37 wheels im weighing my car tonight and will give you the exact weight so you can see i didnt do this for "poseur" reasons
but thanks for the comments
edit: just for fjf: the broken hood weighed in at 2lbs lighter then my stock hood but was done mainly for the appearance of speed because i like people to think my car is fast when in reality it is not

Just the fact that you reference the perception of others tells it all. I'm glad you're enjoying your car, even though you apparently cannot tell the difference between a stock wing and an aftermarket product. Given your ability to pay hundreds of dollars per pound of weight savings (ie. the hood), may I humbly suggest that you invest some of that discretionary income in advanced driver's ed. I guarantee that you'll be much faster than the cumulative effect of all the mods on your car. It won't make you or your car look any faster, though <grin>.

well fjf i used to work for skip barber race school and have gone through many 3 day courses"those being the highest courses you can take" ive had my share of experience on the track get your facts right
im also SO glad you know SO much about cars that you can tell a stock wing from an aftermarket you must be so proud evom taught you something
i see it like this, some people like carbon fiber while others"yourself" like VWs
i dont see anything wrong with either well except maybe the vw thing
lets go back to your original statement of "whats the point" im feeling the exact same right now and everytime i see you posted your worthless comments in my thread so why dont you and your amazing driving skill and car fashion sense go ruin someone elses post
edit: how come you said nothing about my tail lights they dont make the car faster
thank you
p.s. anytime youd like to come to ct and participate in an autox to show how superior your metal trunk is to mine youre more than welcome
p.s.s i hate you
