The factory Brembos are fine for street driving but they blow on the track. Even with ti backing plates, SRF fluid and race pads they get overheated after 30-60 minutes of time on the track, particularly if you run slicks. The Evo is a heavy track car. Let me tell you, with Stoptechs, that car shuts down in a hurry and they can withstand extended use really well. You don't need them though if you don't track your car.

Scorke
For a time attack car that weighs 2600 pounds the factory brembos with fluid, pads, backing plates and ducts probably hold up fine. Time attack only requires a few 30 minutes sessions in a day.

By contrast, a 3300 pound street car that runs 8-12 track sessions in a day (I do a lot of instructing) and often has a passenger (probably 3700 pounds with fuel and people), the factory Brembos don't do so well. While you can get away with using them, my old calipers are straight up black and the seals were done when I pulled them off. Spring Mountain, Buttonwillow, Las Vegas, and Miller in the middle of the summer probably didn't help either. Let me assure you, the $1800 bucks you'll pay for Stoptechs is a deal if you do a lot of tracking. It is one of the best upgrades I've done.
