Is Fixing Semi-Deep Scratches Possible?

I have a few finger nail deep scratches (where u can start to see the white from underneath the paint) like one near my gas cap and one underneath my wing (wierd f*in places)

What im wondering is, is there any way, besides having them completly repainted, to have them fixed?

waxing and buffing hasnt worked.. any alternitives?

Thanks

If it is to the primer, this won't help. But, if you fill the scratches with multiple coats of touch up paint until the paint in the scratches is above the surface of the paint, you can then wet sand and polish. This should look pretty good when you're finished. Be sure to use very thin coats.

Edit: Some may recommend a clear coat on top, but if you're just filling scratches, it really isn't necessary.

You should be able to get it done for around $200 if you can find someone that specializes in this type of repair. There is a guy local to me that works for the Infiniti, Subaru and Mercedes dealers doing these kinds of repairs. He has a tent in one corner of the storage lot and usually gets everything done in a day. I had him fill a gash on my WRX bumper that was about 1/4" deep and it looked good as new when he finished.

BTW, I would think about doing it yourself. You can try first on a small stone chip or something similar.

If you can feel them, they are most likely to deep to buff out. The guy that was talking about filling them then buffing out the excess is about the best bet without repainting. The way it goes is this, if you can drag a fingernail across it and it catches on the scratch, then it needs repainted. The filling process with base coat until its above your finish, then colorsanding does work(I have done it before) but its just a bandaid solution and will not last. One would argue if you go the extra step and put a coat of clear on it before you sand it and buff it, it will last.....only it will last longer then just base, but not much longer. So think about this if you will, a couple of hundred every six months or so to redo that process, or 4 to 6 hundred ONCE to get your quarter resprayed? Your choice my friend.
