two things:

1) It sounds like you may have used the wrong kind of paint. I'm no expert on the subject but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to use a special radiator paint. Normal paint reduces your cooling.

2) Personally, once installed I think it will look bad. The front will be too open, much like a lancer with an evo body kit.

Looks good!

You most likely used the wrong paint. Hi Temp paint is good for areas that see high temps, not for resisting or deflecting hi temps.

does anyone know what the right paint would be? ie: namebrand- type-where to get it. i know ams has to right their logo on the ic, so does a few companies. would be cool to know.

Do you have a link to the type/brand of paint you used? I think you might have gone with the wrong stuff.

The wrong kind of paint will make your intercooler inefficient for dissipating heat, you will probably heatsoak your intercooler faster.

On a side note, it looks cool. I'd like to see some pictures of it installed.

looks stealthy, but how functional is it? I mean your adding a "layer" of paint which will take longer for your IC to do its job.
