New Seats, Harnesses, and Rollbar
#16
why should harness bars be outlawed? From what i understood, they aren't there to give roll-over protection, but just allow you to mount your harness so you're not sliding around in your seat at the track. forgive my ignorance, but did I miss something?

Say you hit that curb, and end up on the top. With a harness, you're pinned and strapped in. You cannot duck. With a stock 3 point, you can move out of the way, or duck/move.
With a 4 pt, you are locked, and your head will be smushed.
Besides, a roll bar is barely more than a harness bar, and it actually offers protection, where a harness bar does nothing. I'm honestly not sure why they're allowed.
I too, once had a harness without rollover protection. I thought it was great to have a schroth harness in a street car, and it worked great. Then i saw a car flip at an hpde.
enough said.

you're a complete fool if you think the autopower bar doesn't do anything.
It's not a full cage, but it's the next best thing. Harness bars should be outlawed, as any fool dumb enough to seriously use one, is exactly that, a fool.
You need roll-over protection with a harness, no questions asked.
Also, when a car is rolled... what is it trying to do? Punch the feet through the floor. Welded, or bolted, thats merely a sideload.
Sure a custom one with 6" square mounting pads would be better, but it's a very affordable, safe option.
Don't spread comments, and false claims, unless you actually have a CLUE what you're talking about.

That looks awsome. and is something that actually works! Over in the lancer section me and a few other guys keep having to explain the whole harness bar thing cause most lancer owners think they are da greatest thing on da earf and must have a bar!

That's definitely an understatement. I absolutely hate harness bars for the ungrounded confidence they have given people regarding safety and proper harness use.

fyi, i would not what to "roll" your evo with that autopower 1/2 cage!
that thing is"bolt in", is not safty rated! and does not meet any racing regulations. it's pretty much just for show. you'd been better off saving a few dollars and got a harness bar.
sorry bud, don't mean to hate, i just did some research on that autopower 1/2 cage a little while ago and found out that it's pretty much useless. although it looks good.. i'd just didn't want you have a false sence of security!

it works great for what it is. It is rollover protection that is needed when you have harnesses.
It is not hard to get in and out of, except if ur short(er) than me ~5'11, and need to move the seat up, the steering wheel will make be a problem for getting in and out.
Thanks for all the suport!
