Polishing Hoodvent

Today i was bored and needed to do something, so i decided to take of my hood vent and polish it.

First i did a test on a spot that is not visible when mounted on the car.

1) Applied some biting-solution (what is the english name btw??) on a non-visible part to see the result first.

2) Whiped of the solution (after 30minutes the paint was still not removed completly as you can see)

3) Polished it with some polishing paste

4) The whole thing still black

5) Applied the biting-solution to the whole vent

Now i'm going to let it do its work the whole night because that paint is very tough. Tommorow i'll post the result

Grtz

Mine is has a perfect polished look and I never did anything to it. The paint melted away and now looks great.

It will get coroded after a while, but that will be solved with the polishing compount. 30minutes work every month and it's shiny again

Not as shiny as a mirror
You can see the difference between the part with only the paint gone of, and the part that's been treated with the polishing compound

Interesting. I think I would still want to keep mine black because it is my theme right now. But cool thing to do!
