I've seen the kit(s) on rally cars before. Plates/Shields that replace the plastic under the engine. I believe I'd seen the plates in both aluminum and kevlar.

Anyone know what the proper name is, and/or where I can purchase these kits for an IX MR?

That's close. That sounds to be more aerodynamic than protective, but that's the closest thing I've seen yet. Thanks for the link. $300 isn't bad either considering what the stock parts cost to replace (I tore mine out after 1 too many off-road ventures)

Go with Beatrush, nice piece and it is an easy bolt in. I' ve ditched mine in the winter a couple times with no probs. Easy to change oil to only 5 bolts and the rear section comes off.

"skid plates" is the term ur looking for. almost all of the wrc teams run skid plates on their cars. they're quite thick (up to 1/4" of thickness) and built to take heavy debris, dirt, gravel, whatever offroad surfaces u can think of. if ur thinking of going offroading/rallying often, u might want to look into skid plates. rallyarmor i think makes em.

the beatrush ones are more for aerodynamics and performance rather than protection. ive seen one and they look sorta flimsy to me. just my .02 cents

i believe they are referred to as the front undertray. beatrush, voltex, & carbing are companies that come to mind.
