tips for exhaust tip cleaning

i don't know if this happens to everyone but it probrably does . the caked little blotches of carbon or whatever it is on the outside of the exhaust tip, even chipping at it with my nails is stuck on pretty good. what do the rest of you use to get it off? sick of having a freckled titanium tip! thanks.

My ti tips still look sbrand new after 4.5k miles. I just wipe mine with a cloth and water but I always wondered what would be the "correct" way of cleaning ti.

Try a light compound or maybe bug and tar remover.

Metal polishing cream like the one posted above works great. Any local auto store has them. I usually buy the Mothers brand ones.

OHH man the memories u just brought back from this post!!! I cleaned my exhaust tip often, well one time i must not have cleaned all the chemical residue off my muffler..... HAHAHAH my friend pulls me over and says "your car is on fire". I said... ohh so i shot a flame eh? He says NO ITS ON FIRE!! hahahah my muffler was a flaming fireball!
when i get home i can find out what i used.. it was hardcore shhh but i dont know if it will harm your titanium tip, it worked great on mine except i didnt clean it all off that one time... obviously!

You could try using silver cleaner. It usually comes in a white bottle and it comes out like a bluish white cream. Once you apply it, let the cream do its work. Afterwards, you can wipe with a microfiber cloth and use som elbow grease. The exhaust pipes should look beautiful then.

Never dull does work well, once all the black carbon pieces are off already. Before that though, use some 0000 steel wool. Its super fine. It wont scratch the metal at all. You can actually clean windows with this steel wool too. Like if there is overspray or something on the window, this will take it off instantly without scratching the window.
