Nice. I don't mind sporting a knock off fmic. As long as your not sporting the brand painted on it. I figure its just another less expensive intercooler.

Looks nice. I need to get a new one also. My stock IC looks like its been dragged all across the freeway.

with an intercooler your last concern should be looks

I think efficiency should be your biggest concern

The Ebay copy has to be more efficient than the stock.

really? what do you base this comment on? It just has to be? You are prolly right. The Mitsu engineers have no clue what they are doing, but the people making ebay intercoolers do.

Actually the stock intercooler for its size and type is relatively efficient. Unless you have hard data on the Ebay copy you can't just say that .

looks good...but I just wouldnt feel right about running a knockoff IC. To much R & D has gone into IC's by proven companies and these knockoffs just cant compare or keep up...

When I had a WRX I put down 269whp at 18.5psi with a Ebay TMIC. My tuner was telling me the same thing. He talked me into buy a TurboXS FMIC kit for my WRX, claiming that it would make more power. I bought it for $900 and another tune for $300. My WRX only made 273whp at 20psi with the new FMIC. The turbo was a deadbolt super 16G. So, for $150shipped I say this FMIC is better than the stocker and since I have not seen this FMIC compared to the real AMS then I have to assume that it is as good. I saved $400 to $500 by buying the AMS copy and I will be getting dyno'd again soon.

I remember a thread recently where buschur tested the AMS copy and his full race intercooler. The AMS copy should have less heatsoak then the stock intercooler but is not as good as his full race. If you have a stock turbo and the ebay intercooler is better than the stock one why not get it? Loyalties? Ignorance? Stubborness?

I would consider the Ebay copy just because it doesn't have anyone's name painted on the front... I myself prefer a nicely polished stocker FTW.

Yeah, I don't have any need for the race core because I don't plan to go much high than the stock turbo, maybe one day I'll get a green.
