Dyno run video (Did some upgrades today)
I had some upgrades done today at Harman Motive...
Previously installed:
HKS RS Intake
Tanabe DP
Perrin Cat
Espelir Exhaust
Installed/Serviced today:
Cosworth Cams
Reflash w/ Boost Mod
Dyno Tune
Walpro FP
Kartboy Shifter (I know not a performance mod, but I love it!)
Boosting 22.8psi
Peak whp: 301whp
Peak tq: 322tq
Dyno vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqzJWCgzECg
I know everyone is saying 301 is too low for the mods I have done. I'm on the same page. There are a few things that can fix that:
1) Removing the cat which I dont want to do;
2) My stock wastegate actuator isnt working right and need to switch;
3) O2 housing needs to be changed;
4) Maybe Cosworth Springs/Retainers?
Hopefully, I can then see the right numbers (330+)
What do you think?

Here we go again. What did the shop say they would expect for those mods on your car? Depending on the dyno, those may be the right numbers. I love when people chime in with their whp numbers from another dyno.
It's the before and after numbers that matter.

Don't play the dyno # game...unless you did a baseline pull, it is really hard to say whether the #s are great / good / poor....Also, you are likely using 91 (since you were in Torrance), so your tune has to be more conservative than a 93 tune...Additionally, the catalytic converter is probably costing you 5 - 15 whp depending on the cat. and tune...Finally, folks often tend to look at just peak numbers vs. curve and my guess is that you probably have a pretty flat tq curve which would make the car a lot of fun to drive...
Now with that said -- How are you controlling boost? What does your boost curve look like and what is it at 7K rpm?

It's the gas.. And as long as the numbers are safe, you are fine. The tuner may have tuned for what the car would allow, not what the numbers should be. Every car reacts different. Looks like you are making very good torque numbers. Would be good to see some charts
Trust me I know. I have to deal with the crappy 91 as well. Those are "good" numbers for cams. Maybe not great numbers, but I would be happy. You guys with 93 or better just have it easy...

Wow, appears to be a dynojet... http://www.harmanmotive.com/services.html
Judging by this page of dyno numbers, their dyno reads low, or more real world... http://www.harmanmotive.com/media.html

Thanks for all the info; comments... I will have a graph up soon...
As far as the before numbers with the previous mods I listed, I was making 271AWHP and 282 AWTQ... New numbers were 301hp and 322tq so I gained 30hp and 40tq. I will be back there in a couple weeks.. they said they will run another dyno tune for me. They said it might also be the fact that I didnt go with cosworth springs/retainers. They said most probably, it was the wastegate actuator since, at around 6600rpm the boost would fall to about 16psi from about 23 peak. Along with replacing the actuator, they said the O2 housing and UICP/LICP would help. They told me the numbers for me right now should be 320+ VS. the 301 I am getting, thats why another dyno tune is necessary.
Unfortunately, we have to settle for 91 octane so I am sure that hurts. And I have the Perrin cat. I wouldnt want to run with no cat even if it means 20 extra WHP. The cops here in LA are major bi*ches, smell is too strong, etc...
I dont have any type of boost controller.
They told me that they tuned it rather conservative. They did not go to aggressive and they told me every car reacts differently to mods.
Again, I will have shots of the dyno sheet up really soon.
O3EVO: How do you like the Samco induction tube and drop in combo? What kind of drop in do you have? I am looking to switch to this since my current HKS RS is too loud. How do you like yours? I am thinking of the ARC induction box as well.
