I noticed the trunk warping after about a month. It was fine for a while. You may want to do something about it before it does become a problem.

I used WRX trunk springs for my C/F trunk on my STI, it worked great. I'll go spring-less for now on the MR or until I find a shock.

Has anyone tried to dremmel relief cuts into the stock MR springs? I think I might try it this weekend. I figure cut into the trunk spring where they attach to the arms of the trunk, to reduce their strength. I'll let you guys know if I lose an eye or something.

I'd like to not have a potentially lethal trunk opening, however appealing the idea of a potato launching trunk is. So what are my options? Is there a way to adjust the spring force on the stock unit? Would getting an evo RS spring help/ be cost effective? Does anyone sell a kit to help reduce this at all?

Thanks for the help guys.

How do you go about removing the trunk springs? Its not working for me no matter what I try...

edit, to take off the springs all you do is take a channel lock plier and grab the rear most piece of the U and pry in a downward position leveraging it against the other side of the U and it should come off...
