Which carbon fiber hood should I get?

Yeah, way too expensive. I would rather get the Robispec one for $800. It's 7.5 pounds lighter than stock also. Much of the JDM stuff are way too expensive for what you get. Actually I would not even buy the Robispec hood because spending $800 for 7.5 pounds of weight reduction is also not worth it to me.

+1 seibon or deft racing. Listen to what he is saying guys.
-price
-Carbon fiber for looks
-Keep stock vent (if possible)
With these two being the biggest issues, deft makes a great hood but mounting the vent is difficult and most just dont bother. The seibon unit is equally diffuclt for mounting, and I have seen their C/F yellow and crack over time.
Does anyone know of a way or a specific hood that will let you keep the stock rubber+mesh+heat shield that goes on the factory hood?

I like the DeftRacing piece linked at the top of the page. Does anyone know if the stock vent contents transfer to it easily?
Also I will I have to get pins for it or should I order the latches they have linked on the page?

If you are concerned about your head, please think twice about getting a carbon fiber hood.
The stock aluminum hood is designed to buckle in half under stress, and literally fold up in a front end collision. Ask me how I know.
A carbon fiber hood on the other hand, due to its increased rigidity, will fail at the mounting points before it folds or cracks in half, and there is a high probability that after the hood snaps from the mounting points, it may enter the cabin in the event of a front end collision.
THERE IS NOTHING COOL ABOUT INTRODUCING THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING DECAPITATED because you wanted to "go for that carbon fiber look" instead of sticking to the stock aluminum hood which correct me if i'm wrong, weighs LESS than most of the CF hoods.

well my friend got into a front end colison and his hood broke, the under support broke off the carbon and then its really flexable. Im sure the worst that would happen with a carbon fiber is that the latch would break and just fly up and smack the windsheild. Thats my .02 on this though

Ok I need a FMIC as well. I need to keep it at $700 if possible. I was looking at the AMS one but I do not know if the Extreme Power piece might be as good for quite a bit less. What is your guys take on it?

I'd get the flushed latches since you can lock those, too.

Eva01,
Sounds like you are in the same boat as me. I have had my insurance check for a few months now, I just have not had time to figure out which CF hood I want. The Deft one looks like a really nice option.
Post pictures when you get it figured out .
